Alloy 254 SMO, commonly known as UNS S31254 is a super austenitic stainless steel, containing higher proportions of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen, enabling high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. 254 SMO is also referred to as one of the most widely used 6% Moly grade piping products.

254 SMO is around 50% stronger than 300-series austenitic stainless steels and is mainly suitable for high-chloride environments, as it offers chloride resistance superior to that of Alloy 904L Alloy 20 and Alloy 825. It is also characterized by high ductility and impact strength.
