DIN 1.2363 Tool Steel

A2 is an air hardening(cold work) Tool Steel with wear properties between O1 oil hardening and D2 air hardening.

A2 offers good toughness with medium wear resistance along with relatively easy machining.A2 also has excellent non-deforming properties. These characteristics have made A2 a very popular and widely used material.

A2 has a machinability rating of 65% of a 1% carbon Tool Steel.

A2 is sold in the annealed condition. Typical annealed hardness is BHN 197/241 Rc 12/22.

A2 maximum working hardness is BHN 698 Rc 62

A2 is capable of meeting ASTM-A681.

Typical Applications:

Blanking dies, coining dies, forming die,s trim dies, punching dies, drill bushings, gauges,laminations dies.
